POLICIES & PROCEDURES

CAARS looks to find great matches for both our pets and potential adopters and may sometimes suggest a different dog or puppy that may be more suitable to your situation.

*Please note that the animals in our care have uncertain pasts. We do our best to guess at age/breed/size, but we can never be certain. We also cannot guarantee health or temperament.

RETURN POLICY

CAARS accepts returns in most instances, please contact us to arrange. Please note sometimes placement of a returning animal can take up to a couple of weeks to accomodate, depending on available foster space and the individual needs of the returning animal.

VACCINATIONS/DEWORMING

CAARS provides vaccinations for all animals due while in our care. The adoptive family is responsible for vaccinations and continued deworming that come due after the adoption is completed, which can include on-going treatment for minor ailments such as worms.

SPAY/NEUTER POLICY

All of our animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption; this cost is included in our adoption fee.

We strongly suggest slow introductions if you choose to welcome a new animal coming into your home.

STEP 01. ADOPTION APPLICATION

To adopt, first complete our adoption application form.

STEP 02. APPLICATION REVIEW

If your application is accepted we will contact you and a deposit of $250 is then due to hold that animal for you. This can be etransferred to camroseanimalalliance@gmail.com

STEP 03. SPAY/NEUTER SURGERY IS BOOKED

Your new pet will be ready to go home 24 hours after surgery and upon payment of the balance of the adoption fee. Please be prepared for your new pet, with food, a bed, toys, and bowls, before he/she comes home.

The following requirements for this program are:

You are seeking treatment or fleeing Domestic Violence or other unhealthy environment and/or seeking medical treatment. Before entering the program you will need to have a letter provided to us from you doctor or social worker stating you are one of the above scenarios and length of time requested.

All animals entering care should be and is recommended to be fully vetted including up to date vaccines and spay/neuter. The max amount of time for this program is 90 days- if you've requested for 30 days and need an extension we will require another note from your doctor and/or social worker.

CAARS board memebers that have access to this paperwork have all signed and acknowledge the code of ethics in regards to privacy and confidentiality agreements. Foster homes are only given information about the animals in care as well as length of time.

Finally, if we have no contact with the original applicant 2 weeks or 14 days from the original end of contract date stated the animals then become CAARS property and we are able to adopt out as such.

By agreeing to this form you are acknowledging the above information is true and that CAARS becomes temporary Guardians of your above listed animals in cases of emergency treatment. CAARS will always act in the best interest of the animal and per recommendation of our Vets.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY

Please note: Most of our animals in care are strays and their history is unknown. As with all wild animals risks are involved and there will be potential for an injury to occur from handling these animals. While we make every effort to fully assess our animals and warn our volunteers of any issues, accidents may still happen. Injuries sustained may include but are not limited to, bites, scratches, infection, fleas, worms, mites, and possibly death. Your own pets may also be infected, affected, injured or even possibly killed by an animal you bring into your home. Please check the box below and sign and date the form to waive your right to sue or seek compensation from Camrose Animal Alliance in the event of such an incident.

This agreement constitutes a contract for the adoption of the animal described between CAARS and the "ADOPTER"

I understand that this adoption contract will be used in conjunction with my adoption application as one binding agreement. This includes all terms and information that I have supplied on the adoption application.

I acknowledge that CAARS has provided me with the medical notes and a behaviour bio for the animal I am interested in adopting. I have read and understand both medical and behaviour notes and if desired, I have had the notes reviewed by my own vet prior to finalizing the adoption agreement.

CAARS cannot guarantee the size, health, or temperament of the animal. CAARS assumes no responsibility or liability for any damages caused by the adopted animal to property, person(s) or other pets. If any medical problems should occur after adoption, CAARS is not liable for any medical bills. As Adopter, I agree to accept full responsibility for the care of this animal, releasing CAARS and its representatives of any liability from this date forward

Welcoming an animal into your home is a huge commitment. Please keep in mind that any change, even a positive one such as moving to a new home, is stressful for animals. It can take an animal days and even weeks to fully settle into their new home. During this period of time it will be important for families to be patient, understanding and willing to work with their newly adopted animal while this transition into their new life and home is taking place. Please select you acknowledge and are willing to allow the transition period of at least 2 weeks.
